Maximum temperatures have surged by 5 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal, reaching up to 38°C, and conditions are expected to remain unchanged in the coming days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports, the heatwave is being attributed to deficit rainfall, changing wind patterns, and reduced cloud cover, causing severe discomfort for residents across the region.

In response to the heatwave, Kamrup Metro, Dibrugarh and Cachar Districts of Assam, have made changes to the school timings and issued guidelines to keep the students safe from the scorching heat.
