Ex-Assam Irrigation Department official murdered in Guwahati

It is being suspected that the deceased was hit with an iron rod by the assailants

In a shocking incident, a former Assam Government official was allegedly murdered in the heart of Guwahati city. The incident has been reported from Friends’ Path in the Hatigaon area.

The deceased has been identified as Javed Ali Ahmed, who was a former Chief Engineer with the Irrigation Department of Government of Assam.

He was also the president of the Friends’ Path Masjid Committee.

As per inputs, Javed Ali Ahmed was found lying on the street. An iron rod was also found close to the body.

CCTV footage showed movement of two suspected individuals in the area during the time of the incident.

It is being suspected that Ahmed was beaten to death with the iron rod.

Further probe into the matter is underway.
