Intensifying its crackdown on the Coal Syndicate in Assam, the State Police’s CID carried out a raid at Bharat Hotel in Jogighopa of Bongaigaon district late yesterday night.

5 persons were arrested during the raid. The arrested have been identified as Mugeshwar Ali, Asan Akhtar Khan, Akibur Rehman, Farukh Ahmed and Bhaskar Kalita.

The CID has also seized invaluable documents along with cash worth Rs 12 lakh. A team of 29 CID officials led by Additional Superintendent of Police Nirmal Baishya carried out the raid after receiving inputs about the group running a racket in the area.
