Big boost to floriculture, new Raj Bhavan in Tezpur. Here are the key Assam Cabinet’s big decisions taken today

The Cabinet cleared the Floriculture Mission that would directly benefit at 20,000 farmers involved in the cultivation of flowers
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today chaired a crucial cabinet meeting in Dibrugarh where a slew of important decisions were taken which includes boosting connectivity, better policing to control crimes, as well as implementation of State Floriculture Mission besides others.
Floriculture Mission
State Floriculture Mission to be implemented with following proposed activities:
• Area expansion – From 2,200 to 3,288 hectare over a period of 3 years
• Open flower cultivation – Summer & Winter Marigold, Gladiolus, Tube, Rose, Chrysanthemum, Lotus, Lilium
• Flower cultivation under protected condition – Gerbera, Orchid, Green Foliage, Dutch Rose & Anthurium
• Post-harvest Management Pack house & Pre-cooling facilities, Transport vehicles, Refrigerated vans and Plastic crates
• Value addition – Establishment of Agarbatti units, Essential & Aromatic Oil production unit.
• Development of Wholesale Market facilities and Floriculture Retail Outlets
• Estimated direct benefit to 20,000 farmers
• Initial investment: 150 cr
Uplift of Police Stations
Financial sanction and release of 300 cr under MOITRI (Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image) scheme to MOITRI Society Account
Highlights
✰ Physical infrastructure, internet connectivity, and basic tools for cyber-crime detection will be developed in every Police Station in the State
✰ Capacity- building of Police Personnel to improve their soft skills and responsiveness to deal with new-age crimes, such as drugs and cyber crimes
✰ Counselling of juvenile offenders and gender-based violence
✰ Special amenities for differently-abled
New Raj Bhavan
A new Raj Bhavan will be constructed at Tezpur.

Connecting Pandu Port with National Highway
• Work for “Construction of Approach Road from NH-27 To Pandu Terminal of IWAI” to be allotted under Deposit Scheme at contract price of 153.04 cr
• The dedicated road connecting Pandu Port with NH-27 will ease
congestions that may occur due to increased trade at the Port.
