According to the AQI data, the air quality in the six northeastern capitals – Guwahati (142), Itanagar (134), Gangtok (131), Kohima (104), Shillong (111), — were classified under the ‘poor’ category. Imphal (68) and Mizoram (87) were classified under “moderate” category.

It may be mention that, earlier on November, 2024 Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram, has achieved an impressive milestone, topping the country’s air quality chart with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 29.
