As many as three individuals have been arrested in connection with the uploading of the ADRE (Assam Direct Recruitment Examination) question paper for Grade III positions 30 hours after the exam started and stirring a controversy and concern among the candidates about a possible leak.
Photographer Mangal Singh Basumatary, who took an image of the exam paper, was arrested alongside Manohar Narzary, the controller of examinations at Upendra National Academy Centre, and Dwijen Bodo, a candidate. Assam police apprehended these individuals after the photograph of the question paper surfaced on social media, causing widespread concern.
The incident occurred after the exam had concluded on September 15, when Basumatary took a photograph of the question paper and shared it with his accomplices. The image was later leaked on social media, raising alarms about the integrity of the recruitment process.
In response to the incident, the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) issued a statement clarifying that the question paper was no longer confidential after the exam had taken place. SEBA emphasised that the examination was conducted smoothly, and all necessary precautions were followed to ensure fairness in the process.
Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh further clarified that a preliminary technical assessment showed that the question paper had been scanned at 2:17 pm on 15 September and then circulated to a select group of individuals. Despite these developments, authorities continue to assure the public of a thorough investigation to uphold the integrity of the recruitment process.
