Assam: Student beaten to death by drug smugglers in Lakhimpur

Amid the Assam government’s crackdown against drugs, an incident has come to light in the state where a student was beaten to death by a group of drug smugglers in Lakhimpur.

The incident took place at Chapari village in Lakhimpur, where the deceased student, identified as Tabid Hussain Chaudhary, 18, was brutally beaten up by a group of five drug smugglers. Later his body was thrown into the Sumdiri River.

As per inputs, Tabid was beaten up for trying to stop the drug smugglers from selling drugs.

A case has been registered against the five accused drug smugglers – Akbar, Baten, Aamir, Falur, and one more, in connection with the murder.

The police have so far arrested three people, and the search for two absconding accused is underway.
