Panchayat polls in Assam is set to held soon after the Rongali Bihu festivities. This was disclosed by the state Election Commissioner HN Bora who indicated that if all measures are in place, the polls will be held towards the end of April or the beginning of May.

The state election commissioner stated that ballot boxes have been dispatched to all the districts of the state.

However, the ongoing NRC update process has made an impact on the preparation for the polls. The tenure of all the panchayats will end on July 16 and a total of Rs 145 crore have been fixed for the entire process.
