Assam man shot at; Love and drugs suspected to be the reasons

In a sensational incident, one person was seriously injured after he was shot by miscreants in Jorhat district of Assam on Wednesday.
The incident took place at the tea garden under Lichubari police outpost in the district.
The injured man has been identified as Basant Das, a resident of Gadmur Seuj Nagar in Jorhat.
The victim was shot in the lower part of his face while he was travelling in his vehicle.
First the injured man has been admitted to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital but later he was shifted to Guwahati in a critical condition.
Two persons including a woman have been arrested in this connection. The arrested persons have been identified as Jimple Gogoi and Monalisa.
As per inputs, it is suspected that the arrested woman had developed a relationship with the victim.
Further, it has been suspected that the incident took place as planned by Monalisa and Jimple.
Earlier, the victim, Basant Das, was arrested thrice on charges of drug trafficking. The incident is believed to be linked with drugs and a love affair.
Further investigation is underway.
