Assam: Doctors, Addl SP arrested for trying to cover up ‘murder’

Assam: Doctors arrested after they prepared fake post mortem report of a minor girl who was found hanging. Additional SP also arrested.

Shocker from Assam… Three doctors and one Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) has been arrested by the Assam Police for trying to cover up the sensational death case of a minor girl.

The 3 doctors serving at the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital who made fake postmortem report have been identified as Dr Tarun Deka, Dr Anupam Sarma, and Dr Ajantabh Bordoloi. The trio have been remanded to police custody.

The arrested Additional Superintendent of Police has been identified as Rupam Phukan. ASP Phukan was arrested by the CID after continuous grilling by the investigating agency.

Meanwhile, the CID raided the residence of suspended Darang SP Rajmohan Rai. As per inputs, Rai’s residence in Saokuchi area of Guwahati was raided by the CID last night. However, Rai was not found at his residence during the raid.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commenting on the matter said that a magistrate has also been arrested in connection with the case. Further probe is underway to nab the other perpetrators, the Chief Minister added.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Sarma affirmed that his government is committed to ensure justice to the victim by booking all those guilty.

Worth mentioning that it was on June when the body of the minor was found hanging inside the residence of a Jawan. However, the incident was wrapped without a proper investigaition.

Following this, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed a inquiry by a special investigating team or SIT into the matter after he visited the residence of the deceased and met the family members.
