Assam court gives lifer to fmr school principal for raping 5 students

The ex-principal was slapped with a fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 6 of the POCSO Act

A former Assam school principal accused of raping at least 5 students, was awarded life imprisonment on Tuesday by a local court in Kokrajhar.

The Kokrajhar Additional Sessions Judge, Joydev Koch convicted school principal under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused, identified as David Basumatary, was found guilty of the crime.

He was also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 6 of the Act.

The shocking incident took place in a boarding school in Gossaigaon.
