Assam CM apologies for HSLC paper leak

So far 25 arrests have been made in connection with the leak, Assam DGP GP Singh said earlier in the day
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday apologised for the unfortunate incident of HSLC question paper leak and reiterated that steps would be taken to assure that such an incident never happens again.
CM Sarma requested the students to appear for the exam and said that the government will take responsibility for the student’s future. CM Sarma was addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting.
CM Sarma said the police have cracked the case and one centre in charge of a school in Assam including 3-4 teachers involved in the paper leak case have been identified.
He also informed statements of the witnesses have been collected.
CM Sarma further said that the strictest action will be taken against the guilty.
One accused has been arrested and the other 3 including the centre in-charge will be arrested soon, he added.
Earlier in the day, Assam DGP GP Singh informed that 25 arrested have been made so far in the case.
Briefing the media in Dibrugarh, GP Singh said that of the 25 arrested, 12 are adults and 13 are children.
Accordingly, the 12 adults have been sent to 3-day custody of CID and the remaining 13 children have been shifted to juvenile homes where they were questioned by CID following Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) order, said GP Singh.
Besides these 25 accused, police also picked up three more persons for interrogation in connection with the case, said GP Singh.
The accused involved in leaking the question papers charged prices ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 3000, and shared it through WhatsApp. They used as many as 4 e-wallets to do the transactions.
The examination for the General Science subject which was supposed to be held on March 13, was cancelled by the authorities owing to the paper leak case.
After the cancellation of the Assam HSLC exam 2023 for General Science paper, the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) had announced the new date for the examination. The examination is scheduled to be held on March 30.
