AIUDF Chief Ajmal’s Bizzare Remark: Hindus should adopt Muslim formula of marrying early, producing more children

First Published: 2nd December, 2022 17:54 IST

Ajmal says Hindus should get their children married at an early age so that they can produce more children.

AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal does it again. The Assam politician and businessman who is known for making controversial remarks has said that Hindus should adopt the Muslim formula of getting married early so that they can produce more children.

“Muslims get married by 18 years, the legal age for marriage (of girls). But they (meaning Hindu boys) till 40 years have illegal wives who are not allowed to have kids. They continue to have fun till 40 years. After 40 years, because of pressure from parents or because they land in trouble, they get married but by then how many kids can you produce? In this manner how can you have a lot of children? Therefore, Hindus should adopt the Muslim formula of getting married early. Get your boys married by 20-22 years and girls by 18-20 years and then see the large number of children. Don’t do do nambaree,” Ajmal, a Lok Sabha MP, said stirring a row.

Ajmal’s comments come at a time when a debate is going on in India about the fast rising Muslim population in the country as compared to the Hindu population.
