Shashi Tharoor meets party leaders at Rajib Bhavan in Guwahati to drum up support in his favour. But who will be the new AICC Pres?

Who will win the race for the post of AICC President? Shashi Tharoor who is one of the top contenders for the grand old party’s top post, arrived in Guwahati today. Tharoor was accorded a warm welcome by Congress leaders including MP Pradyot Bordoloi. The AICC presidential candidate also met the state Congress leadership in a bid to drum up support for him.

Tharoor in brief said that the Congress is banking on the youths of the country which constitutes the majority of the population in the nation.

The polling for electing of the new Congress President is scheduled to be held on October 17 at all Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Central Election Authority of the party has decided that no AICC general secretaries/State in-charges, secretaries and joint secretaries would be allowed to cast their vote at their assigned State. The Congress presidential polls will be held by a secret ballot.

It may be mentioned, that Shashi Tharoor is in the race against veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.
