Channel diversion by the fast-flowing and turbulent Noa-Dihing and the Buri Dihing rivers is held to be responsible for floods

Villages under Diyun Circle in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh were severely affected by the recent floods.

Many villagers are still residing in relief camps and are trying to recover from the disaster.

Channel diversion by the fast-flowing and turbulent Noa-Dihing and Buri Dihing rivers is held to be responsible for floods in the area.

To mitigate future risks, local youths, supported by MLA Nikh Kamin, have taken on the task of redirecting the Noa-Dihing River back to its original path. Two JCBs have been deployed for this purpose.

With the possibility of floods reoccurring looming large, locals hope this initiative will definitely become a deterrent against flash floods in the days to come.

It may be mentioned here that several districts of Arunachal Pradesh have been hit by floods and landslides, which have damaged roads, bridges, culverts, power lines, electric poles, transformers, and water supply systems.

Several houses have also been damaged in different parts of the state so far.
