Reforms in APPSC: PAJSC warns of further agitation if demands not met

First Published: 29th October, 2023 17:37 IST

PAJSC vice-chairman Tadak Nalo expressed his unhappiness about the fact that the Pema Khandu government is yet to respond to their demands

The 4-day sit-in protest called by the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) demanding reforms in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) entered its second day today.

The PAJSC activists are demonstrating at the Tennis Court in Itanagar seeking that the Pema Khandu government act swiftly to fulfil their 13-point charter of demands.

Unhappy over the fact that Chief Minister Pema Khandu has not responded yet, PAJSC vice-chairman Tadak Nalo,“We had expected from the government that it will reciprocate to our demands, because the government had given us written assurance on whatever we are demanding. There is nothing new in our demands. The only update is that we have not yet received any response (from the government). We had hopes that the government would take the matter seriously. If nothing happens with this phase of agitation than our movement shall continue. So far there is no response from the Chief Minister or other representatives of the government. Though it is sad but we still hope that the state government would definitely pay heed to whatever has been demanded.”

Among the 13 demand are – chairman, secretary, members and all other officials of APPSC from 2014 to 2022 be immediately brought under the purview of investigation. If any discrepancies are reported, arrests must be made immediately.

Immediate constitution of a fast-track court for prosecution of the accused involved in the APPSC paper leakage scams.

Immediate establishment of state administrative tribunal and declaring null-and- void all exams conducted by APPSC since 2014 till date.
