Illegal appointments in PHE & WS department: ACS seek termination of corrupt officials

The Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) has expressed serious concerns regarding the recent illegal appointments of over 20 persons in the Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHE & WSD) department in Longding and Changlang districts.

In fact the ACS has sent a representation to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary placing before the top official, a 3-point charter of demands.

Briefing the media in Itanagar, today ACS convenor Kamin Yangfo said, “The moment the news about the illegal appointment in the PHE and WS department went viral on social media, we immediately conducted a probe on our own. We have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary.

The three points mentioned in the memorandum are-
Cancellation of appointments and legal action against the legal appointees-
Appointment order of all 25 individuals must be cancelled within 14 days. And legal action must be initiated against those individuals, so that no individuals can defy other individuals’ right to oppurtunities under Article 16 of our Constitution at any cost in furtherance.
Termination of officials involved-
Any government officials involved in this illegal appointments must be terminated from his/her government officials position as exemplary punishment for wrong doers so no individuals is defied of his/her rights.
Publicly reveal name of involved in this scam-
Publicly revealing of every individual involved must be done namely whether politicians, government officials and brokers.”

The ACS has further warned of further action if the government fails to deliver justice.

Leadership of the civil society group said, “The ACS will not rest until justice is served. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and ensure that those responsible for illegal appointments are held accountable. Our commitment is to uphold transparency, fairness and integrity in public sector appointments.”

Besides the ACS has urged the government and relevant authorities to take swift and decisive action to restore public confidence and to demonstrate that corruption will not be tolerated in Arunachal Pradesh.

As per inputs, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh has already ordered for cancellation of illegal appointments of 20 individuals who were recruited as work-charged (WC) staff.

The government in the notification for cancellation of the appointments addressed to the Superintending Engineer, PHE and WS, Miao circle stated, “It is to inform you that fresh appointments of 20 individuals to the post of WC has been examined and found that the appointments were made in violation of the laid down procedures as well as without any sanctioned post. Hence, government approval has been obtained for cancellation of the illegally appointed WC staff under Miao circle.”
