The first round of inter-state border talks between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Arunachal counterpart Pema Khandu was held in Guwahati today.
Several Cabinet ministers from both states attended the meeting which took place at the State Guest House at Koinadhora.
The two sides reportedly talked about the formation of regional committees that would visit the spots of dispute and prepare reports for resolving the matter of border dispute between both the states.
It may be mentioned that both Assam and Arunachal under the guidance of the Centre have already started the process of resolving the inter-state border issue.
Meanwhile, Northeast Live caught up with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu before the crucial talks with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took place.
Talking on the meeting today, CM Khandu said that they are hopeful of achieving a positive outcome.
The Arunachal Pradesh CM also said that committees have to be formed to go to the disputed sites and understand the ground realities and come ou with reports for settlement.
