Setting its eyes on the 2024 Assembly Election in Arunachal Pradesh, the National People’s Party (NPP) has released its manifesto in the frontier becoming the first political party to do so.
The NPP has come out with a 13-point manifesto. Among the key promises, the NPP has said that it will increase the number of assembly seats from the existing 60 to 80. Besides, the NPP also said that the number of Lok Sabha seats will be increased if voted to power.
Paknga Bage, state NPP general secretary (org) spoke to Northeast Live and said, “We have released our election manifesto today with the theme of ‘For New Oppurtunities and New Possibilities’.
The first one is Reformation on political and administrative policy. It means that in the state there are 60 MLA seats, this needs to be increased to 80, because in the last 40 years population has increased and geographically we have a large area. At present there are 2 Lok Sabha seats and it needs to be increased to 3. There has to be an Arunchal (Central) MP in the Parliament.
A Directors’ Complex needs to be set up so that all the Director’s Offices of all departments and Chief Engineers are in the same complex so they are easily accessible to the general public.”
The NPP has also promised that it shall engage subject experts, community based organisation (CBOs) and all political representatives to formulate a suitable policy to resolve vex issues of the state like- Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activity and Prevention Act-2014 (APUAPA), interstate border issue of Arunachal-Assam, Reformation in Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), Chakma Hajong refugee issue, protection of Arunachalees against racial discrimination outside state besides others.
“At the second place we have given importance to the education sector because there is a need for reformation so that there is quality education. For that the recruitment of teachers in private schools has to be as per the standard procedure of the government, since 70% parents enroll their wards into private schools. The fee structure in private schools also needs to regulated. We have mentioned about free education to children from 6 years till 14 years,” Paknga Bage added.
