Arunachal Elections: Congress unveils manifesto, promises reforms in key sectors

If voted to power, the Congress has promised establishment of AIIMS, amendment of APUAPA among others

The Congress in Arunachal Pradesh today unveiled its manifesto, making a slew of promises for reformations in sectors such as health, education, employment, governance, Panchayati Raj system besides others.

Some of the key highlights of the Congress manifesto include-

-Implementation of Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2011
-New laws to ensure highest standards of fairness in the examination process
-Amendment of the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 2015
-Establishment of AIIMS
-Super Speciality Hospitals in every District Headquarter
-Fill up vacancies of staff and doctors in all government hospitals
-Regulation of fees structure in private educational institutions
-Upgradation of all government primary and middle schools to residential school with hostel facilities
-Regularization of contractual and contingency employees
-Reduction in GST by 10-12%
-Cash incentives to registered farmers
-Implementation of Forest Rights Act (FRA) 2006
-Rs 600 per LPG cylinder

Worth mentioning the Congress is fighting both the ensuing Assembly Elections as well the Lok Sabha election for the 2 parliamentary seats in the frontier state.

Despite the initial announcement of 34 candidates, the Congress in Arunachal Pradesh is now left with 19 contenders only for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Of the 34 candidates announced by the party, 5 abruptly withdrew, leaving 29 contenders in the race.
However, on the last day of filing nominations, 10 potential candidates failed to file their nominations.
