The Deputy Chief Minister, highlighting Arunachal’s potential in the power sector, said that 40% of the country's potential is in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh will continue with its developmental activities in the bordering areas without paying any heed to China’s transgressions, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said on Sunday.

Responding to reports of China raising objections to India’s construction of at least 50 micro-hydel projects under the Centre’s Border Village Illumination Programme, Chowna Mein said that the Arunachal Pradesh government is not bothered by any kind of objection being raised by China on the issue.

“We have decided to make a model village in the last village of Arunachal Pradesh. In the first phase, we completed 17 stand-alone micro-hydro projects with a budget of 50 crore. Out of which Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated 9 during his Anjaw visit. The rest will be completed by June or July,” Chowna Mein said.
These hydroelectric power projects will provide power to the army, paramilitary forces, and local villagers, the deputy CM added.

The Deputy Chief Minister, highlighting Arunachal’s potential in the power sector, said that 40% of the country’s potential is in Arunachal Pradesh and stated that the state will now sign MoUs for producing 1,300 megawatts of power.

“Arunachal has the maximum potential in the power sector with 40% hydropower. 40% of the country’s potential is in Arunachal Pradesh. We have signed many MoUs with private parties in the last 10–20 years, however, those parties have miserably failed to commission all these projects Now we will sign an MOU for 1300 megawatts,” The DCM said.

Chowna Mein further informed that Arunachal Pradesh is going for rapid implementation of the Vibrant Village Programme, during which around 450 villages close to the Indo-China border will be developed as model villages with proper road infrastructure, communications, health, and education, as well as tourism-related infrastructure in the first phase.

There are around 1,500 villages close to the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh.

The DY CM also stated that after Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the Vibrant Village Programme in Kibithu in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh on April 10 this year, detailed survey work is going on in 136 villages across the state for connecting them through the implementation of the PMGSY scheme.
