Votes will be counted from 6 AM in a total of 48 counting centres.
As the Arunachal Pradesh Election Commission is engaged in last-minute preparations to ensure free and fair counting of votes for the State Assembly Elections tomorrow, it has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to deploy additional security forces in the state to avoid any kind of law and order situation.
Counting of votes for 50 Assembly seats out of a total of 60, will begin from 6 AM in 48 centres in the state.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain “Victory procession is totally banned, but of course, the supporters will be there. So we have taken steps for special barricading and separate ground for them (supporters). There will be a 3-tier security cover, paramilitary forces will also be there. We have also requested the MHA to provide us additional 10 paramilitary forces to tackle the law and order situation (if any). Especially in TCL areas and some sensitive headquarters, if there are any issues, we think that we need to have our own precautionary measures.”
“More than 10000 officials will be engaged in the counting process, because this time we have increased the number of tables,” Sain added.
“Tomorrow at 6’o’clock we will be starting our counting. First, we will count our postal ballots and then by 6:30 we will start all the EVMs at all the district headquarters. We have 25 district headquarters where we have arranged a total of 48 counting centres. We will be starting our counting constituency-wise simultaneously. We have appointed more than 500 micro-observers for all these counting centres. Later on, the ECI has also sent more than 28 observers, general counting supervisors and special counting observers, who will be deputed at all district headquarters and they will be monitoring this counting process,” he said.
Counting of votes for 50 assembly seats out of a total of 60 seats, since the ruling BJP has already won 10 seats in the 60-member assembly unopposed.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso are among the prominent candidates who have won unopposed.
