The date for the mains exam will be announced within a week and uploaded to the commission’s website.

A total of 1,658 candidates have passed the preliminary round of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE), which was conducted on 15 December across 87 venues in 18 districts. The examination was held for 140 vacancies.

The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Secretary, Parul Gaur Mittal, stated that the date for the mains exam will be announced within a week and uploaded in the commission’s website.

The APPSC has been embroiled in controversy ever since the paper leak scam was uncovered by whistleblower Gyamar Padang.

The incident came to light after Padang, who was a candidate for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) in 2021, filed a complaint at the Itanagar police station, alleging that the AE (Civil) examination paper had been leaked.

Following Padang’s complaint, the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) arrested 10 individuals, including the then APPSC Deputy Secretary and Controller of Examinations, Taket Jerang.

Jerang’s arrest led to further revelations, exposing the scam as a large-scale operation involving several government officials and private individuals.

Arrests included serving engineers, agriculture development officers, sub-inspector trainees, and even circle officers.

The case has now turned into a massive scandal, and the investigation has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The CBI is currently probing the involvement of multiple officials in the scam, with new details emerging regularly.

This ongoing investigation has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the APPSC and the recruitment process in Arunachal Pradesh, and authorities are under pressure to address the issue and bring all perpetrators to justice.
