At least 10 organisations in Arunachal Pradesh have decided to hit the streets in Itanagar on September 12 seeking the cancellation of appointments of non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates who have been recruited as Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts.
As per the representation by the organisations to the Superintendent, Directorate of Post Office in Itanagar, the organisations alleged they have learnt that many non-APST candidates have been appointed against the Arunachal Pradesh ST quota for the post of GDS.
The representation mentioned, “candidates from other state of India cannot find the land and office easily to operate the post office. Hence your esteem office must cancel all the appointees of non APST in Arunachal Pradesh.
Besides, the organisations have also demanded that local unemployed youths who are well versed with mother tongue and knows the localities must be appointed to the 2596 GDS posts in 866 branches. The organisations alleged that the appointments into the posts were made without maintaining Codal formalities as per 3.B II (ii) which mandates that the candidate must have command over local language or dialect.
