APPSC fiasco: Pema Khandu government facing manpower crunch for taking action plans forward

While youths, particularly the APPSC aspirants in Arunachal Pradesh, are facing a bleak future owing to the ongoing fiasco in the statutory body, the government too has been impacted by this and that too adversely.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu himself exposed the sorry state of affairs as he openly admitted that the government is facing serious hurdles in terms of governance, especially in the backdrop of creation of new administrative districts as well as launching of government offices to ensure development and take administration to the doorstep.

The Chief Minister attributed this to the fact that the government is unable to recruit Group A and Group B officers, who are at the top strata of administration.

In a query by Northeast Live, as to what steps he would take to safeguard the future of students as well as APPSC aspirants, Chief Minister Khandu said, “Whatever is happening in the APPSC over the last one year, because of that everyone is suffering, the government is also suffering too. Because the government is facing severe manpower crisis. Over the time we have created thousands of employment opportunities, but due to this fiasco we are not able to go ahead. So, definitely the youths are suffering and similarly the government is also suffering.

To take forward the government’s plan of action, you need manpower. Over the times, new districts have been created, lots of government offices have been opened across the state, but to make things functional in these places we do not have manpower as of now. The Class 1 and Class 2 officers are recruited only through the APPSC.”

Chief Minister Khandu also informed that more than 1000 such posts are lying vacant.

However, the Chief Minister believes that things will be better once the court pronounces its judgement.

He said, “I have been stating that as and when the High Court pronounces the verdict, a new body (Commission) would be set up after which everything will fall in place. We will cicrulate advertisements for filling up the posts.”

On November 30, the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) took to the streets and protest against the alleged delay by the government in fulfilment of their demands. The PAJSC had alleged that the Chief Minister did not respond to the Committee’s request for a round table discussion on the APPSC fiasco.
