The Arunachal Pradesh government has renewed it’s efforts to find missing mountaineer Tapi Mra although 8 months have passed by since Mra and his assitant Niku Dao went missing in August 2022.

In a fresh development, the Arunachal Pradesh government has formed a committee to chalk out the action plan for undertaking the next search operation to find the missing Everester. The Committee will be headed by the Secretary (Sports & Youth Affairs) of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh as the Chairman.

To further expedite the process and chalk out the future course of action, a coordination meeting has been convened on April 11 by the Chairman of the committee at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar.

Worth mentioning the Committee includes family members of Tapi Mra and Niku Dao as members. The other members include DC East Kameng, SP East Kameng, Director of Disaster Management (Govt of AP), Director of Sport (Govt of AP), Director (NIMAS), President and GS of Tagin Cultural Society, Commandant 12 Bn NDRF, Commandant SDRF (Itanagar), Everesters Anshu Jansempa and Tagit Sorang and his team as well as family members of Tapi Mra’s assistant Niku Dao.

Yatok Mra Nilo, sister of Tapi Mra reacting to the development said,”We feel the April 11 meeting will be a technical meeting, but we are still not aware as to whether our issues have been resolved are not, it is still within the govt. We are yet to get a clear answer. We have hardly 20-22 days left in our hand. The technical aspect is also important but it is equally important whether our issues have been resolved or not.”

It may be mentioned, in November 2022, the Arunachal government had agreed to fulfill all the demands placed by Tapi Mra’s family and assured them of completing the procedure for the search operation within March 2023. However, Tapi Mra’s sister claimed that they are still yet to get a clear picture on this and urged the government to make everything clear in the April 11 meeting.

Now Tapi Mra’s family has requested a review meeting with the government discuss the search operation for the missing mountaineer following which the government’s decision to hold a coordination meeting has come.
