It is our commitment to the people of the state that we will not succumb to this kind of threat and pressure, CM N Biren Singh said.

As situation continues to escalate in the border town of Moreh, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has strongly indicated that foreign mercenaries from Myanmar side may be involved in the attacks on forces in the area.

After taking stock of the health condition of the injured security force personnel at RIMS, CM N Biren Singh said that there is a high possibility that Kuki National Army, Burma is involved in the attack on the forces.

The Manipur CM also said that sophisticated arms are being used by the militants which can even penetrate into bullet proof vehicles.

Condemning the attack, N Biren Singh said, “We have reports from many sources, mercenaries from the Myanmar side (KNA-B), their involvement is highly possible.
We are in touch with the central government, whatever we are doing and whatever is going on (operations by security forces) in Moreh and other parts of the state is in consent and approval with the state government. The operation is going on jointly by the state and central forces.”

The Manipur Chief Minister made a strong affirmation stating that the government will not succumb to such plots intended to derail peace and tranquillity in the state.

Expressing solidarity with the security forces engaged in efforts to bring permanent peace, N Biren Singh said, “We are with the central and state forces, we are countering them and now search and combing operations are widely going on. Reinforcement has been sent and we are having some doubt of involvement of foreign machinery from the Myanmar side. It is our commitment to the people of the state that we will not succumb to this kind of threat and pressure. We will take necessary, possible measures to counter such terrorist activities.”

Earlier as many as 5 injured security personnel were rushed to RIMS in Imphal after they were airlifted from Moreh where armed men launched an attack on security forces in the wee hours today.

As per sources, armed men launched an ambush on a combined team of security forces comprising IRB, Manipur Rifles, and BSF personnel.

The armed men reportedly fired RPGs at the vehicles of the forces.
