Elephant menace has been a long going issue in Assam. A wild elephant created sensational scenes in different parts of the city late in the night.
The elephant had come down from the hilly forest tracts near Panjabari. An elephant entered the city and reached upto Rukminigaon via the Kalakshetra-Six Mile stretch.
Later it managed to reach up to Lokhra via Sijubari by traversing through the Bhetapara-Hatigaon areas.
All the while, it was being chased by forest officials who tried to push it back into the forest premises near the city. Later, forest officials were able to push the elephant into the Garbhanga forest reserve.
