The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. General KT Parnaik has vehemently condemned the illing of former Khonsa West MLA Yumsen Matey.

The Governor also called for tough action against the perpetrators of violence and promissed that those responsible will be brought to book.

Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik has also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

He said that with Matey’s death, the state, particularly the people of Tirap, lost a social activist who made immense contributions towards the state in various capacities.

On Sunday, State Home Minister Bamang Felix has also expressed grief on the death of Matey and promised a thorough investigation into the case.

This is not the first case when an MLA of Tirap has been targeted. Tirong Aboh who had succeeded Yumsen Matey, as an NPP MLA from the Khonsa West seat had to face a similar fate. Just 2 days ahead of the announcement of assembly election results, Aboh, his son and 9 others were shot dead in the Bogapani area by militants on May 21, 2019.

Therefore, police is also looking into this angle as thorough investigations have already begun.

IGP (Law and Order) Chukhu Apa spoke exclusively to Northeast Live and shared details about the spine chilling murder.
