Those proven guilty in APSC cash for job scam will be punished as per law: DGP GP Singh

Assam Director General of Police, GP Singh has reteriated that those who found guilty in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam will face action as per the law.

DGP GP Singh said, “Those with evidence against them can be prosecuted and will face proper punishments, while those against whom evidence of minor wrongdoings are found will face departmental action.”

DGP Singh said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the state government to probe the matter is on the job. It is compiling a list of evidences. Once it files the final report, the government will take the appropriate action based on the list of evidence it has against each party.”

Earlier, on Monday, the SIT has arrested Sukanya Das, Additional Deputy Commissioner Police (ADCP) of the Guwahati Crime Branch for her alleged involvement in the scam.
So far, the Assam government has suspended 21 officers for their alleged involvement in the scam.

11 Assam Police officers, 4 civil servants and 6 from other services were suspended with immediate effect on December 1 for their involvement in the scam.

The scam is related to a combined competitive examination the APSC conducted in 2013.
