Meghalaya girl Nambie Jessica Marak reaches finals of MasterChef India Season 8

Throughout the season, Nambie Jessica Marak has been captivating viewers of MasterChef India with her knowledge of Northeastern cuisine

Nambie Jessica Marak from Meghalaya also known as TribalChef has made it to the finale of season 8 of MasterChef India, the most prestigious cooking reality show.

Other finalist contestants are–Suraj Thapa, Mohammed Aashiq, Dr. Rukhsaar Sayeed, Nidhi Sharma and Harish Closepet.

They will now fight their last battle in the cooking reality television show to win the golden chef’s coat and the coveted trophy.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma congratulated her on making it to the final and wished her luck in the remaining rounds of the competition.

“So proud to learn that #TribalChef, Nambie Jessica Marak from Meghalaya has reached the Finals of #MasterChefIndia. Every culinary masterpiece that she presents is attached to very special stories of Meghalaya and the North East, giving people more insight into our rich tribal culture. Excited to see where her journey takes her. Wishing her the best with the remaining part of the competition,” CM Conrad Sangma wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Throughout the season, Nambie Jessica Marak has been captivating viewers of MasterChef India with her knowledge of Northeastern cuisine and raving dinner table topics, with her dishes that comprise unique flavours of Meghalaya and much else.

Nambie Jessica Marak hails from Upper Rangsa village of Meghalaya’s West Khasi Hills district.

She also runs “Eat Your Kappa,” a YouTube channel on Northeastern food and culture.

Kappa is a popular Garo dish, known for its unique flavours, where meat and vegetables are cooked with extracts of bamboo and tapioca.

After completing her schooling, she moved to Chennai for a job and further education.

She started her YouTube channel Eat Your Kappa, in 2016, to break the stereotypes surrounding Northeastern cuisine and promote Garo food on a national level.

Marak shoots all her videos in Upper Rangsa, a village tucked away in the forests of Meghalaya’s West Khasi hills.

Nambie’s journey underscores her dedication to preserving and celebrating Meghalaya’s rich culinary heritage.

MasterChef Season 8 was premiered on October 16 on Sony TV. The judges this season are chefs Ranveer Brar, Vikas Khanna and Pooja Dhingra aka known as The Dessert Queen.
