First Published: 26th November, 2023 19:28 IST

Over 10 days have passed by, the security forces are yet to make a breakthrough in the case

It’s 10 days today and still there is no trace of the 2 officials engaged with a private construction agency, who were allegedly abducted by suspected NSCN (K-YA) insurgents from Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district.

Police officials suspect both the officials have been taken to Myanmar by the militants.

Junior Engineer Sashan Yadav and Supervisor Liamgao Pansa- were abducted from a construction site near Konnu village in eastern Arunachal’s Longding district on November 16.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Longding DSP B. Tangjang said, “On 16 Nov some unknown armed UG personnel came at Konnu bridge construction site and abducted Junior Engineer Sashan Yadav and Supervisor Liamgao Pansa of the road construction agency at Konnu and they were taken to Myanmar by the abductors. Furthermore the UGs have also snatched away more than 20 mobile handsets from the labourers who were camping in the construction site. In this regard an FIR has been lodged and a case has been registered.”

However, the official denied to reveal much about the ongoing efforts to trace and rescue the construction company officials.

As per inputs from reliable sources, the NSCN (K-YA) is said to be behind the abduction.

According to police sources, a self-styled rebel leader, Botai Wangsu of the NSCN (K-YA) had led the 4 member group of heavily armed militants during the abduction. Wangsu is said to be a hardcore militant and wanted for various cases related to extortion, kidnappings, etc, in the Tirap, Changland and Longding (TCL) region of the frontier state.
