Tripura to host Under-17 National Yoga competition

Minister Tinku Roy shared that the competition is expected to draw approximately 500 participants

Tripura is gearing up to host its first-ever Under-17 National Yoga Competition, State’s Sports Minister, Tinku Roy said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference held at the secretariat, Minister Tinku Roy shared that the competition is expected to draw approximately 500 participants from various sports schools across the country. The event of five days, is scheduled to commence with an inauguration ceremony to be presided over by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday afternoon at the NRCC auditorium in Agartala.

Roy took the opportunity to commend the remarkable positions India has taken in the field of sports in recent years. He attributed these accomplishments to the collaborative efforts of both national and state governments, highlighting their steadfast dedication to the growth of the sports sector.

The Minister emphasized the significant expansion of sports infrastructure throughout the country, creating an atmosphere conducive to nurturing athletes. According to him, this supportive environment has yielded noteworthy results not only at the national level but also on the international stage, showcasing India’s prowess in the global sporting arena.

As Tripura prepares to host this historic event, Minister Tinku Roy expressed optimism about the positive impact it will have on promoting yoga and fostering a spirit of healthy competition among the youth.
