Manipur CM N Biren Singh reiterates about transnational plot to destabilize state

N Biren Singh once again backed his prior statements about the involvement of foreign hand in the recent unrest after the arrest of 2 CKLA cadres

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has reiterated about the involvement of foreign hand behind the recent unrest soon after the arrest of 2 Chin Kuki Liberation Army (CKLA) cadres from Chaljang in Churachandpur district.

Huge cache of arms and ammunition were seized from the duo who are members of the non-Suspension of Operations (SoO) group.

N Biren Singh also corroborated the facts established during probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) which mentions about the involvement of rebel groups operating from Myanmar and Bangladesh in the violence that erupted since May 3.

The Manipur Chief Minister in a post on X said, “In a major breakthrough by Manipur Police and Central armed forces, multiple weapons, ammunition, drugs and cash have been apprehended from Myanmar based militant group CKLA.

The seized weapons include AK47, Insas, Sniper and M16 rifles along with huge cache of ammunition.

Further, opium weighing about 2.5 kg, Rs 4,86,500 cash and various other items were also recovered.

Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have taken up cases wherein it was particularly stated that there exist a transnational conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against the Government of India by exploiting the current unrest in Manipur.

Today’s apprehension of CKLA cadres and the recovery of weapons has yet again underscores a transnational plot aimed at destabilizing both Manipur and our nation.”

Earlier, too Chief Minister N Biren Singh on multiple occasions had mentioned about the involvement of a foreign hand behind the unrest. In his Independence Day address, he had said, ““Certain misunderstandings, actions of vested interests and a foreign plot to destabilise the country has led to the loss of precious lives and properties and many are living in relief camps.”

The Manipur Police has shared details about the arrest and items seized from the CKLA militants.
The items include:

(i)06 arms (5.56 mmm INSAS Rifle-02, MQ Assault Rifle-01, AK 47 Rifle-01, M16 Rifle-01, Sniper Rifle with telescope-01)
(ii)109 ammunitions (7.62mm Ball ammunition- 48, 5.56 INSAS Ball ammunition-57 and 7.62mm Sniper Ball ammunition-04)
(iii)01(one) Binocular, 04(four) Radio sets and 01(one) Radio set charger etc.
(iv)Approx 2.5 kg of opium.
(v)Cash- Rs 4,86,500/- (Four Lakh eighty-six thousand five hundred only).
