Chief Engineer, Project Swastik, BRO, Brig. He also apprised about the damage caused along the Chungthang-Lachen route, posing huge challenges for restoration of motorable road.
He further informed that the bailey suspension bridge at Sangkalang will be operational from 27th October, which will enable connectivity upto Pegong near Chungthang.
Meanwhile, the alternate route from Naga-Toong upto Chungthang is being constructed on a war footing. The bailey suspension bridge at Chungthang is also under construction and is slated to be launched by 10th November, 2023.
Furthermore, Chungthang to Lachung axis is fully connected. The biggest challenge is the connectivity from Chungthang to Lachen via Rangma Range and Minshithang.
The meeting decided to expedite the ongoing work to connect Chungthang with Lachen by engaging the already available heavy machines and excavators and by hiring the machines available with the private contractors already engaged in the region on both sides of Lachen.
The Chief Minister directed for laying high priority on restoring connectivity up to Lachen.
It was decided that the work will start from both Chungthang as well as Zema sides to ensure early connectivity.
