Arunachal Pradesh: Defence Min Rajnath Singh to celebrate Dussehra with forces in Tawang sector

This will be the Defence Minister's second visit to the Tawang sector this year
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be in Arunachal Pradesh to celebrate Dussehra with the bravehearts guarding the nation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) bordering China. The Defence Minister will arrive in Assam’s Tezpur today after which he will proceed to the frontier state.
Rajnath Singh himself confirmed about the development in a post on X.
He said, “Today, 23rd October, I shall be reaching Tezpur on a 2 day visit to Assam & Arunachal Pradesh. During my visit, I will interact with Armed Forces personnel deployed in the region and also visit forward areas.
Looking forward to celebrate Dussehra with the soldiers in Tawang.”
The Defence Minister will also be performing “Shastra Puja”.
The visit of Rajnath Singh to Tawang and celebrating Dussehra at the strategically-important location close to the LAC assumes significance as India and China have been engaged in a bitter standoff over the Red Dragon making repeated claims over Arunachal Pradesh.
Notably, Singh has been performing “Shastra Puja” on Dussehra for the last several years, including during his tenure as the Union home minister. The defence minister’s visit comes at a time when the much anticipated Sela tunnel is nearing completion.
This is the Defence Minister’s second visit to Arunachal Pradesh within a year. On January defence Minister Rajnath Singh had inaugurated 28 infrastructure projects, including bridges and roads, giving a boost to defence forces guarding the borders in the Tawang sector.
