Assam: Noted musician Dasarath Das passes away

Das breathed his last today at Barpeta Medical College and Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment

Renowned musician from Assam, Dasarath Das has passed away.

As per reports, Das, who was a pioneer and one of the greatest pillars of the mobile theatre industry in Assam died following prolonged age related ailments.

Das breathed his last today at Barpeta Medical College and Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.

Dasarath Das, who hails from Angulia village of the Baksa district received the ‘Indian Oil Guwahati Refinery Luit Gaurab Award’ in 2022 in recognition of his tireless efforts and valuable contribution towards enhancing the musical repertory of Assamese mobile theater.

As a singer and music director, Das has been involved in Assamese mobile theater for more than 40 years

He was also the first recipient of the Silpi-Sainik Brajanath Sarma Award.

He also worked as music director in Assamese films–Dubari Bon, Railar Alir and Sendur.
