Mizoram Polls 2023: CM and MNF Chief Zoramthanga files nomination papers

Mizoram Chief Minister and MNF chief Zothangsanga today filed his nomination papers in Aizawl. He is contesting from the Aizawl East-I seat, a constituency he successfully secured during the 2018 assembly elections.

The 3-time Mizoram CM and a former militant leader, the 79 year old Mizo politician is looking for a fourth term as the CM and become the longest serving CM of Mizoram.

In 2018 MNF won 27 seats and 38.4% of the votes and Zoramthanga became the CM for the third time. He had returned to the top job after 10 years. He had led two successive MNF governments from 1998 to 2008 but then came the two tenures of the Congress led by Lal Thanhawla.

MNF is fighting in all the 40 Assembly seats. The state goes to polls on November 7. Counting of votes will take place in December 3
