Moran's decision to leave the banned outfit after nine years has not just made his family happy, but has also brought in a wave of happiness in his village

A cadre of banned outfit-United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I), Sonson Moran, alais Chandan Asom has surrendered before Police and returned home after 9 years of being with the banned outfit.

Sonson Moran, a resident of Kakopathar in Tinsukia had joined the insurgent group in 2014. He had secretly left for Myanmar to join the outfit.

He left the terror outfit and surrendered before Tinsukia Police on September 27. He is currently in the custody of Police.

Moran’s decision to leave the banned outfit after nine years has not just made his family happy, but has also brought in a wave of happiness in his village.

Last week, State DGP GP Singh made a clarion call to all the youths of the state and urged them not to destroy their lives by going to the jungles (forest) and join militant outfits.

DGP Singh said that it was rather unfortunate that youths who are being lured to join outfits, ultimately meet with a tragic fate.

GP Singh’s call came after ULFA-I ‘executed’ its senior cadres, namely Lachit Hazarika alias Salim Asom and Barnali Axom alias Nayanmoni Chetia on September 20 at the outfit’s Hachi camp in Sagain area of Myanmar for allegedly working as spies for the Indian Army and Assam Police.
