Over 1 kg heroin seized in Mizoram, 2 persons from Manipur held

Mizoram excise and narcotics department officials seized over 1 kg of heroin at Seling Zero Point (outskirts of the capital Aizawl) and arrested two people in this connection.
The arrested persons have been identified as Kamkhawlun (44) and Nehminlen, residents of Churachandpur district, Manipur.
Acting on a tip-off, Narcotics team of the Aizawl Police intercepted a car in Seling Zero Point area.
About 1.222 Kgs of heroin hidden in 102 soap cases and 1.74 grams of Ganja were recovered from the vehicle. As per inputs, the drugs had been sourced from Myanmar.
The two individuals were booked under the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act).
According to official inputs, 71.495 kg of heroin, mostly smuggled from Myanmar was seized by the state’s Excise and Narcotics Department between January and September this year.
The department also seized 46.715 kg of Methamphetamine, 121.415 kg of Ganja, 22,469 bottles of IMFL, 4,209 bottles of cough syrup, 6,403 tablets of alprazolam and several litres of local made alcohol in this period.
