The Manipur University Students Union is all set to take out a march to the state assembly on Monday to protest against the government’s “lax attitude” towards the ongoing impasse at the Manipur University regarding the removal of Vice Chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey.

MUSU president M. Dayaman Singh has made it clear that the they would not allow the state assembly to function until it takes a strong decision on the matter at hand. Singh said that the march will aim at disrupting the functioning of the assembly. It is to be mentioned, that the Manipur assembly is having its monsoon session currently.

The Manipur University Students Union is also demanding the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. The failure on the part of the state government to end the deadlock regarding the ouster of Vice Chancellor AP Pandey has prompted MUSU to make this demand.

While talking exclusively to Northeast Live, MUSU president M. Dayaman Singh said that the Chief Minister should resign on moral grounds.

Earlier Manipur Pradesh congress Committee Presdient TN Haokip, while speaking to Northeast Live appealed that the Vice Chancellor should be removed at the earliest and emphasised on how the state government should pressurize the centre, particularly the HRD ministry.
