A team carefully shaved Anusuya's head and sent her hair to a 50-year-old cancer patient

In a touching act of kindness, a five-year-old pre-primary student from a state-run school in Tripura has won hearts by donating her long hair to a woman cancer patient who lost her hair due to radiation treatment and chemotherapy at the Nagpur National Cancer Institute in Maharashtra.

The heartwarming story began when the parents of little Anusuya Ghosh learned about an appeal on social media asking for hair donations to help a cancer patient. They had been planning to shave their daughter’s head, which is a common practice in Tripura, believed to promote better hair growth.

Anusuya’s family decided to respond promptly to the call for help. A team carefully shaved Anusuya’s head and sent her hair to Sanghamitra, a 50-year-old patient undergoing cancer treatment in Nagpur who needed hair for a transplant.

Anusuya’s mother, Sima Chakma, who is a school teacher, explained that they saw the appeal on social media, shared by a Bangalore-based NGO. Sanghamitra, the cancer patient, needed hair for her transplant.

Chakma expressed her hope that their act of kindness would inspire others to support those battling cancer and other illnesses. She emphasized that humanity has thrived over the centuries through such small acts of kindness. She also mentioned that if they hadn’t understood the importance of hair, they might have simply shaved Anusuya’s head and discarded the hair, as is common practice worldwide.
