Meghalaya: Newborn dies in vehicle during massive traffic jam

In an utterly tragic incident, a newborn baby lost its life on Saturday, as its mother was caught in a massive traffic jam.

The incident occurred in Ksehkohlong village of West Khasi Hills, where a fishing competition at Pamphyrnai brought thousands of people together.

The pregnant woman, on her way to the hospital to give birth, got stuck in traffic for hours at Nongspung.

Her vehicle, a tourist taxi, was unable to move due to the massive traffic jam, with countless anglers and spectators heading towards the fishing pond.

As per inputs, the mother had no choice but to deliver her baby inside the vehicle. However, due to the prolonged delay in reaching the hospital, the newborn lost its life while en route.

The mother is receiving medical treatment at Holy Cross Hospital, Mairang.
