Arunachal Pradesh Forest and Land Management Minister Nabam Rebia got disrupted twice by Assam Police while on his way to the Assam-Arunachal inter-state border.

Rebia, who was on his way to inaugurate a foundation stone for a model village at Bogoli-Denka under the Chief Minister’s Adarsh Gram Yojana, was stopped by the Assam Police at two separate locations.

The minister was travelling along with Papum Pare district Deputy Commissioner Joram Beda when they were first stopped by OC Laluk Ajit Bhuyan at the Kaluk railway crossing line. The minister was stopped for the second time at the Gabru river bridge which is only 2 kilometers from the site of the model village.

The move had been done as per the orders of the SP of Assam’s North Lakhimpur district in view of maintaining the status quo of the border between the two states as per the directive by the Supreme Court.

As a result of this, the minister had to wait for more than an hour because of the two unexpected halts along the way. Later, Rebia was escorted to the site of foundation stone by North Lakhimpur district’s Deputy Commissioner Jivan B.

The minister, however, refrained from inaugurating the model village’s foundation stone. But he addressed the local villagers on the occasion and also stated to media that people on both sides of the border should live in peace and harmony.
