4-day Yonex-Sunrise NE Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship kicks-off in Arunachal

Over 350 delegates, including officials, are participating in the tournament from across the Northeastern states.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu on Wednesday inaugurated the four-day long Yonex-Sunrise North East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship in Itanagar.

Over 350 delegates, including officials, are participating in the tournament from across the Northeastern states. The event is being organized by the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA).

As per Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) officials, the North East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship includes Team Championships in four categories, Men, Women, Junior Boys and Junior Girls. The Individual Championships feature Men’s and Women’s events in both singles and doubles, along with Mixed Doubles. Additionally, Junior Girls and Junior Boys would be competing in doubles, singles, and mixed doubles.

CM Khandu extended his best wishes to all participating teams from the north-eastern states.

Taking to Twitter, CM Khandu said, “In recent times, Arunachal has emerged as a prominent host for a series of prestigious sporting events on international, national, and regional levels. This upward trajectory in the realm of sports showcases a remarkable trend that reflects our dedication to nurturing sporting talent and creating a vibrant sports culture.”

“Amidst challenging circumstances, I am particularly thrilled by the enthusiastic participation of Team Manipur, which exemplifies the resilience and determination inherent in sportsmanship”, he added.

He further said that the event will not only foster healthy competition but will also serve as a platform for unity and collaboration among the states.

“Meanwhile, heartening to share that a state-of-the-art Badminton Academy with a seating capacity of 1000 and modern boarding facilities is currently under construction in Chimpu on a sprawling 20,700 square meter, donated by me’, he added.
