Manipur Govt to hold assembly session before September 2

The authorities are also considering allowing MLAs to join the session online in case they are unable to be present in person.

Authorities in Manipur are getting ready to hold the next session of the state assembly before September 2 because as per the Assembly norms every state has to hold the Assembly session every six months.

The last session of Manipur Assembly was held in March.

The authorities are also considering allowing MLAs to join the session online in case they are unable to be present in person.

The decision to provide the online option to participate in the discussion has been taken keeping in view the unrest that has prevented the 9 Kuki-Zo MLAs from visiting the valley since May 3.

On the other hand, the Biren Singh government will resettle all the displaced people from the hills and the valley, highly placed sources told Northeast Live.

The authorities are supposed to have identified displaced people who are ready to return to their original locations. Those who are unable to return to their original locations will be housed in temporary prefabricated accommodations.

According to the sources, the state government is convinced that the resettlement process will be successful because this is an exercise that has nothing to do with the political demands of the communities in the hills and the valley.
