Arunachal: Higya Welfare Society urges State Govt to construct ‘statue of honesty’ in memory of Gyamar Padang

By exposing this scam in APPSC, Padang displayed an exemplary act of bravery and honesty, said Higya Welfare Society's president Gyamar Kuba
The Higya Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh today appealed to the State government to consider the demand for construction of ‘statue of honesty’ recognising late Gyamar Padang as the whistle blower of the infamous Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak case of 2022.
Addressing a press meet in Itanagar, the Higya Welfare Society’s president Gyamar Kuba stated that the construction of ‘statue of honesty’ will help to encourage and motivate others in checking and fighting the corrupt practices in the state in near future.
Kuba said that Gyamar Padang was the one who exposed the malpractices that was happening for a very long time in APPSC. By exposing this scam, he displayed an exemplary act of bravery and honesty, which has been widely acknowledged and appreciated by all.
He said that whatever he has done will live in history for the state’s future generation. He has established an everlasting identify for himself by his selfless and honest act.
Further the society added that the APPSC issue is getting murkier and the situation is getting conflicted. “We feel that all the stakeholders should collectively work together and deal with this issue with holistic approach to bring in an amicable solution,” the society added.
It may be mentioned here that the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) has been seeking permission from the government to construct a ‘statue of honesty’ on a vacant plot of land located in the middle of NH 415 here at 6 Kilo as a tribute to whistleblower Gyamar Padang.
Padang was an aspirant of the Assistant Engineer of AE civil examination conducted by APPSC.
He filed a FIR at the Itanagar police station on August 29, 2022, stating that the APPSC exam questions had allegedly been leaked.
Following the complaint, investigation into the case began. Initially the case was investigated by the Itanagar police, but later transferred to the special investigation cell (SIC) of the Arunachal Pradesh Police.
Later on October 26, 2022, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation.
Padang passed away on May 3, 2023.
