Kerala shocker: 5-yr-old girl raped-murdered, body found in sack

Kerala Police posted an apology to the family of the victim on all its social media handles.

In a heart-wrenching incident that has shocked Kerala and the nation, a five-year-old girl was was brutally raped and strangulated to death by a migrant worker after she was abducted from her house in Kerala’s Ernakulam district.

Her body was found dumped in a sack in a marshy area behind a local market in the nearby Aluva on Saturday.

Child of a migrant couple from Bihar, the girl went missing from her house at the Garage junction on Friday evening.

The accused was arrested based on CCTV footage, but interrogation was delayed since he was in an intoxicated, said police.

Arrested accused who hails from Bihar, was staying in a room on the first floor of the building where the child’s family was residing.

Kerala police posted an apology to the family of the victim on all its social media handles.

Taking to Twitter, Kerala police wrote, “Sorry daughter”

“Our efforts to bring her alive to her parents were unsuccessful. The suspect who kidnapped the child was arrested,” read the post in Malayalam.

Following the incident, the opposition Congress came down heavily on the state police and alleged lapses on their part in tracing the child.
