Tension is brewing at the Assam-Nagaland inter-state border at Merapani with miscreants from the Nagaland side terrorising the villagers in Assam.
Miscreants are crossing over to Assam and demanding extortion money from villagers along the inter-state border area. A group of miscreants from Nagaland entered a village at Garbasti at Sector D near the border and allegedly fired more than ten rounds of bullets on Monday evening.
The miscreants entered each and every house and threatened the residents with dire consequences if their demands are not met. Many people had to part with their livestock after threats were made.
The group of miscreants also demanded extortion money from the headman of the Mikirang village. People have already fled their houses fearing for their lives.
Although the police and CRPF are running combing operations in the area, the terror of these miscreants has not died down yet.
