Manipur unrest: Fresh firing reported from Churachandpur, 2 injured

Over 85 days and Manipur is still burning. Violence in the trouble-torn state seems not to be ending anytime soon with fresh instances of violence being reported almost every day.

A fresh gunbattle has been reported from Kangvai area of Churachandpur district today.

Reports are coming in that 2 village defence volunteers have been injured in the exchange of fire.

As per sources, the gunbattle broke out in the wee hours today and is reportedly still underway.

The exchange of fire broke out at Kangvai in the periphery areas between the hills and the valley.

Sources also said that the shelling of mortars also took place.

It may be mentioned here that Manipur is on the boil for almost three months now since a violent clash broke out between two communities in the state on May 3, 2023.

Over 160 people have lost their lives, and over 70,000 people have been displaced by the violence during the past two months.
